The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of sociodramatic play by community-centered scripts on the expressive language and nonverbal communication behavior of children with disabilities. The subjects in this study were children who used a welfare agency in the city of G. The selected children were engaged in sociodramatic play in 25 sessions during a nine-week period of time from January 5 to March 6, 2009, three times a week. To assess the expressive language of the children, the total number of utterance was measured according to modified method and the frequency of lasting dialog was checked, which was adjacency pair analysis to evaluate the level of children¡¯s contribution to conversation in their study of communicative interaction. And an inventory used study of the nonverbal communication behavior of students with disabilities was employed to assess their nonverbal communication behavior. The structured environments of the script-based sociodramatic play allowed the children to perform the activities in an interesting and familiar manner, and a supply of reinforced intervention for expressive language and of behavioral intervention suitable for each situation provided an opportunity for them to keep interacting with one another and express themselves through language. In addition, they were encouraged to have interest in something common, and that contributed to bolstering their expressive language and cutting down on negative nonverbal communication behavior.
